System C Acquires WellSky International

26th July 2021

System C Healthcare (“System C”) is pleased to announce that it has agreed to acquire medicines management specialist WellSky International from its parent company WellSky Corporation (“WellSky”). WellSky International, formerly known as JAC, is best known for clinical software in Pharmacy and Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA). WellSky International’s solutions are used by a large number of NHS Trusts and Health Boards across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, in addition to a number of international clients.

Strategic Expansion of System C's EPR

This acquisition will broaden System C’s product portfolio and is a highly strategic addition to the company’s integrated cloud EPR suite. System C will invest significantly in product innovation, maintain interoperability with all hospital software systems and third-party suppliers, while closely integrating WellSky International’s products into its CareFlow electronic patient record software, including clinical collaboration, care planning, electronic observations and patient flow.

A Diverse Product Portfolio with International Reach

WellSky International’s product portfolio encompasses critical care, emergency care, theatres, controlled drugs and mobile solutions for provision of bedside closed loop solutions. Its chemotherapy software is widely used internationally, particularly in Benelux and Scandinavia. Its pharmacy solutions also have an international footprint, with a large-scale solution covering some six million people deployed across 45 hospitals and 80 clinics in Western Cape, South Africa.

A Team of Industry Experts

WellSky International employs domain experts, clinicians, technologists and other experts from its headquarters in Essex, UK.

WellSky will be changing its name to CareFlow Medicines Management (CMM) from Monday 26th, but other than that  will continue to operate as an independent unit within the System C and Graphnet Care Alliance, alongside System C, Liquidlogic and Graphnet.

Robert Tysall-Blay, CEO of WellSky

System C is a great cultural fit for us and has the ambition, scale and range of products we need to offer a world class medicines management platform as part of an Integrated EPR.

System C Joint Chief Executive Dr Ian Denley

WellSky International leads the market in medicines management solutions and has a long track record of collaboration with clinicians across the NHS. Its highly evolved clinical products are held in the very best regard by users, and we are delighted that they have joined the System C group.

Denley added that “together with our Care Alliance Partner Graphnet Health, System C has a compelling and comprehensive offering for Integrated Care Systems, and we are excited that the acquisition of WellSky International will allow us to accelerate further investment.”
