4th June 2024
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEI&B) is important to us here at System C and our DEI&B committee which was created by our passionate colleagues are the driving force. We are continuing to create a company where people of different backgrounds and identities feel valued and where all ideas and contributions can thrive. June is a particularly important month for us as we celebrate Pride.
Pride Month is an entire month dedicated to the uplifting of LGBTQ+ voices, celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and the support of LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion. It is typically celebrated in June globally. Pride Month is usually marked by parades and marches so showcase support. Pride Month began in June 1969 after the Stonewall Riots and continues today with celebrations honouring the community.
For Pride Month we are encouraging our teams to celebrate alongside each other visiting our dedicated Intranet Hub full of lots of useful Pride focused and LGBTQ+ resources, sharing stories of their own experiences so we can all learn more about how we can support our colleagues and peers in the workplace, and by encouraging them to change up their Microsoft Teams background to showcase their support. We also have some important dates for the diary in June for our staff including a Pride themed webinar with a special guest speaker as well as a Pride focused quiz! We will be sharing more on how we are celebrating throughout the month!
We truly believe that anyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can support and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.
Learn about LGBTQ+ history, rights, and current issues. Follow LGBTQ+ voices and read relevant books and articles. Challenge discrimination wherever you encounter it, whether in conversations or online.
Join local Pride parades and events to show solidarity and learn more about the community.
See Pride events near you: Leeds, Edinburgh, Oxford and Liverpool.
Respect people’s preferred names and pronouns and avoid assumptions about gender or sexuality.
Embrace and celebrate the unique identities and stories within the LGBTQ+ community.
Support the LGBTQ+ community beyond Pride Month by staying informed and fostering inclusivity year-round.
