CareFlow Medicines Management platform covers Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) and Pharmacy. EPMA operates across a wide range of care areas, including acute, mental health and community - providing an ‘ICS ready’ solution. EPMA is also able to be extended into intensive care and theatres using our integrated CareFlow Critical Care module. Our additional solution CD Manager provides hospitals with a completely paperless solution for their controlled drug processes.
Our market-leading solutions are deployed in more than 200 NHS Trusts, Health Boards and hospitals in the UK, Europe and South Africa. Integrated into the CareFlow EPR, they provide a complete end-to-end solution with sophisticated medicines clinical decision support.
EPMA system supports the prescribing and administration of all medicines, including simple and complex infusions, treatment protocols, clinical trials and named patient medicines. The administration workflow incorporates closed loop administration workflows using our mobile application PharmaTrac ensuring the correct medicine is given at the right time.
EPMA provides the ability to request and order medicines from the Pharmacy to ensure the patient’s medicines are correctly administered at the right time. Where our integrated Pharmacy solution is also deployed, the system provides a closed loop supply workflow. EPMA provides clinicians with real-time information on a patient’s medicines throughout their inpatient stay from clerking on admission medicines through to prescribing take home medicines. Integrated data capture, an updated view of any dosage or regime alterations and real-time generation of clinical audits and customised reports are provided as standard.
Unlike many other EPMA systems, CareFlow Medicines Management enables the entire drug chart to be viewed on a single screen, with patient histories accessible at a keystroke. No need to rekey prescription data at discharge; the inpatient prescription can be transcribed from the chart.
CD Manager is a controlled drug management platform designed for use by NHS and healthcare staff throughout all areas within hospitals where controlled drugs are stored, including pharmacy, wards and theatres. This provides hospitals with a completely paperless solution for their controlled drug processes.
PharmaTrac is a mobile platform which supports the administration of medicines using scanning of barcodes to ensure the five ‘rights’ of administration. It is seamlessly integrated with the rest of the medicines management platform.

Once we committed to the CMM solution, we had to get up to speed very quickly. It was crucial that we adopted an agile way of working and thinking."
Richard Billam, Deputy Director, ICT, Barnsley Hospital NHS FT
