North Middlesex Invests in System C’s EPR to Revolutionise Clinical Systems

7th June 2019

North Middlesex is joining University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and Whittington Health NHS Trust in deploying the System C blueprint for hospital computerisation.

The Trust has announced that it will be deploying System C’s advanced clinical systems as part of a £12 million investment over the next three years designed to deliver improved patient care.

Support from NHS Digital and The GDE Programme

NHS Digital is providing £5m of the money under the Global Digital Exemplar (GDE) programme, which is designed to create a group of reference sites and standard blueprints for NHS digitisation. University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and Whittington Health NHS Trust are already deploying the System C blueprint under the GDE programme.

Goals of The Digital Investment Programme

North Middlesex says its full digital investment programme is designed to allow the Trust to:

  • Improve staff access to clinical information so they can make the right decisions and deliver safer and more effective care,
  • use technology to improve patient experience so they can better manage their own health
  • provide better data so that we can use it to improve quality, efficiency and patient outcomes, and
  • improve the way clinical systems across north Central London talk to each other so that clinicians can better manage patient care.

The Trust will be working with System C and JAC Computer Services to deliver this vision.

Leadership Perspectives on The Digital Transformation

Maria Kane, Chief Executive of North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, said:

With a rising demand for our services, we need to think differently about how we deliver patient care. This investment will help us make the best use of digital technology so that we can improve the way we work and transform our services so that they better meet the needs of our local community.

Beverley Bryant, chief operating officer of System C, commented:

We are delighted to be partnering North Middlesex on this exciting digital transformation programme and are looking forward to working with them over the coming months deploying the System C blueprint for hospital computerisation.

The System C blueprint for hospital computerisation is being deployed by many other System C customers, as well as under the GDE programme by University Hospitals Bristol and Whittington Health.
